Sclerotherapy is a non-invasive procedure that treats spider veins, also known as telangiectasia, by injecting a medication in the veins that are bothersome. The injected solution causes the vein to scar, thereby forcing the blood to circulate through other healthier vessels.

Spider veins are very common in women. They are often associated with pregnancy, weight fluctuation, work or activities that require standing for a large part of the day – although people living a more sedentary lifestyle can be affected as well.

Our patients can now maintain the youthful appearance of their legs with this accessible procedure.

Sclerotherapy is relatively painless and lasts between 30-60 minutes on average. The treatment is effective and quick, for the patient may need 2 – 3 (sometimes up to 5) treatments to fully treat their veins. Following a sclerotherapy treatment, it is necessary to wear compression stockings for two weeks to achieve the desired result.

Due to some patients’ proneness to produce spider veins, they may need other treatments in the future to maintain results.

A consultation with Annie Lorefice is the first step to establishing a treatment plan. After the first treatment, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled with Annie to evaluate the results.
