Elena Sonina

RECOVERY ROOM NURSE

Elena was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where she finished her first degree d’Aide-Médecine Sanitaire in a Medical College in 1993.In 1995, she moved to Canada. She initially worked as a home caregiver, and via different agencies as a préposée aux bénéficiaires.

In 2008, she graduated from Dawson College Nursing program, and in 2011 had her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Ottawa.Since then, she has been working at St-Mary’s Hospital in the Obstetrical Unit as a Postpartum and Birthing Center nurse.

In that unit she was responsible for the triage of incoming patients and provided immediate care to mothers and babies after a vaginal birth or a caesarean section. She stayed in that unit for 12 years as she felt passionate about birthing and felt her implication was highly rewarding.

In 2020, she left the hospital for the private sector and started working in clinics as Circulating OR nurse and Recovery Room nurse, where she provides comfort and support for post-operative patients. Elena truly enjoys multitasking and being continuously challenged with new experiences. She is a high energy, highly motivated nurse with wonderful interpersonal skills.

In her free time, She likes to travel, read, swim and bike.
