Breast Reduction (BBR)

Breast Procedures
A breast reduction surgery aims to reduce the overall size of the breasts.

This is achieved by removing tissue, skin and fat from the breasts to relieve patients from discomfort and obtain a more desirable appearance. A breast reduction surgery also involves repositioning the nipple and reducing the size of the areola.

Breast reductions are often performed to help diminish back, shoulder and neck pain or help reduce skin irritation due to friction on clothing. Large breasts can also lead some women to be physically inactive, the weight of their breasts making physical activity more complicated and painful. For some patients, breast reduction surgery may help make sporting activities more enjoyable.

A breast reduction always includes a mastopexy, to help lift, rejuvenate and reshape the breasts in order to achieve an optimal result. The surgery can also be combined with other aesthetic procedures, such as  liposuction of the chest wall or back fat (commonly referred to bra roll).

A consultation with Dr. Gilardino will help determine the precise amount of breast tissue to remove in order to reach the patient’s desired look and comfort level.
