Breast Augmentation (BBA)

Breast Procedures
Breast augmentation is a commonly-performed aesthetic procedure that improves both the volume and the shape of the breasts.

While some patients simply want to increase their overall breast size, others aim to correct a loss of volume or change in shape due to pregnancy, weight loss or aging.

Breast enlargement surgery is typically performed by safely introducing an implant into the breast to provide the desired volume. Breast implants can be placed above or below the pectoralis major muscle, depending on the thickness of the existing breast tissue. The incision is generally placed in the inframammary fold and is well concealed once healing is complete. Synthetic implants can also be used to reconstruct breasts after a mastectomy.

There is a wide variety of breast implant types (i.e. silicone- or saline-filled), shapes (i.e. round or tear-drop shaped) and profiles, which allow each patient to find the perfect fit for a natural look. Each breast implant type has advantages that can be discussed during your consultation. In addition, the optimal size of implant and desired breast volume (cup size) can be assessed and sampled in the office using a sizing system to provide you with an idea of the post-operative result of your breast augmentation.

A breast augmentation surgery can also be performed along with other procedures, such as a mastopexy (also known as breast lift) to reposition and raise the breasts, and in some cases,  provide an optimal result.
